My Confession

I wasn't going to write this post, because I'm pretty sure you're going to think I'm crazy. But then I was so impressed with the results of my new routine, that I just had to share.

With that preface, stick with me. K? UNLESS you have no desire to read about the intricacies of washing your face. If that's the case, stop reading now.

Okay, here we go: I've been washing my face with olive oil for a few months. Yes, olive oil! I promise you, for some strange reason, it works really well. I have fewer blemishes and my skin is never dry. It's not overly oily either. And it's softer. Who would have thought?

The concept is that the oil, when massaged into your skin, dissolves the oil that has hardened with impurities and found itself stuck in your pores. And then a warm, steamy wash cloth opens your pores, allowing the oil to be easily removed.

Are you intrigued? Want to try it? Check out this link.

If you do try, stick it out for a week. It takes a while for your skin to adjust. And will you let me know? So I don't think I'm the only crazy person in the world? (I know I'm not, but it helps to be reminded. :)

I use a mac product called cleansing oil that I LOVE! I started using it on recommendation from the ladies on when I started wearing a really strong sunscreen for the same reason as you, because oil removes oil better than water! Interesting about the olive oil, I would think you'd need one other ingredient, I can't remmeber what it's called but many of the members of makeup alley on the skincare board make their own cleansing oil with the oil plus one other thing..!

It's castor oil. If you tend to have more oily skin, castor oil has more drying properties, so you can mix your own conncotion. So far, the olive oil works okay for me, though.

Fascinating! I have the worst dry, flaky skin in the winter -- I guess that's the downsize of never having had acne. I might just have to try this. My Italian relatives will love it!
