and then it rained...

Many of you have been inquiring whether we actually have water at our humble abode in Atlanta. Despite the national media attention about the drought here, it really has had no impact on our daily lives. No one in our neighborhood has a sprinkler system, so that's a moot point. I've actually seen several people washing their cars (which makes me want to pull over and tell them to turn off that hose and lick the rest of the suds off...but that's just me.) All of the churches are praying for rain, though. They advertise this on the billboards outside their buildings. Can you say "Bible belt?"

Now it's been raining for two days (which they say really won't help much). Que sera sera.

Never fear, though. The forecast for Boyz weekend (which includes D.Morris, the Tin-Man and a certain Mr. Riggs) is low-70s and partly cloudly. The debauchery will be stupendous, I'm sure.

My family is alright. I am not sure about some of my friends though. Anne, Nikki should be alright. But Jeff is really close to some fires. there is a google map of the place at the california fire website.
A friend of mine here lives in escondido and may not have a home this christmas... or his mountain bikes...

Scary stuff, Candie. I heard from Nik this a.m. El Jeffe is safe. She didn't say anything about his house. I'll be thinking of them.

Best wishes to those in the OC and SD. LA is simply dealing with smoke-a-plenty and an orange sun. Weezy.

On the rain front...the first two years we were here it rained like crazy (during the three weeks that it ever rains). Last year was a record year, even, and everyone worried about floods. Now, it's a dry year and everyone is all worried about drought. Goes to show you, you can't win.

But rain or drought beats a fire by a long shot. We had a near miss in May when Griffith Park went up...thankfully, the Santa Anas were blowing then or Los Feliz might be a distant memory.

make that..."the Santa Anas weren't blowing"

i'd hate to go misunderstood even for a microsecond.

Hudson - glad you're safe. Those fires look dangerously close to L.A. Give Mags a big, wet smooch from me. :)
